#CyberAttack #Italy: Università degli Studi di Siena has been compromised by the LockBit 3.0 ransomware group. The group allegedly exfiltrated 514 GB of sensitive documents, including: - Documents with budgets detailing expenses by month from 2020 to 2024 - Documents approved by the Board of Directors regarding the financing of projects and tenders from 2022 to 2026, including financing amounts - Documents on extraordinary construction works, the appointment of the contractor, and the allocation of a budget of 1.7 million euros - Non-disclosure documents for WineCraft 2024 - Tender design contracts for 2023, including the contract budget - Documents outlining the contractor's investment plan for 2022, including expenses, rents, and the general financial plan Ransom deadline: 28th May 24. On May 10, the University of Siena's website communicated that due to a massive cyber attack by an international group of hackers, the website admission[.]unisi[.]it, the ticketing service, and the payment management services linked to international admissions are currently suspended. 🚨Ransomware Alert 🇮🇹Italy - Inps Servizi On November 18, 2024, Inps Servizi, a provider supplying cumulative contribution data from companies via model F24 to QuAS, experienced a ransomware cyberattack. This incident exclusively affected Inps Servizi's systems and did not impact QuAS's operations. The compromised data pertained solely to the total contributions paid by each company, without any personal details of individual members. At the time of writing, the website of Inps Servizi (inpsservizi​.it) is not responding.

According to the country's cybersecurity agency, around ten official websites in Italy experienced a cyberattack on Saturday. The websites of the Foreign Ministry and Milan's two airports were among those hacked websites that were temporarily put out of action. Italy experienced a shocking rise in cyber-attacks according to an Exprivia Report We collaborated with Exprivia in the 2023 Annual Threat Intelligence Report prepared by the Exprivia Cybersecurity Observatory, based on an analysis of 145 open sources, and the results are shocking: - There were 2,209 incidents: cyber attacks, privacy violations, and other security breaches in 2023. - In particular, there were 1,635 attacks, which is a 32% increase compared to the previous year. - There were also 518 security incidents and 56 privacy violations. Rising Cyber Threats: In 2023, of the 2,209 cases recorded, data theft remained the most widespread type of attack, accounting for 59% of all cases. Phishing/social engineering emerged as the top attack type in 2023, accounting for 49% of the total number of cases (1088, down about 4% from 1133 in 2022). Sector-Specific Risks: It notes that the financial, healthcare, and public sectors are particularly at risk, urging these industries to amp up their defense mechanisms against potential cyber threats. The sector most targeted by attackers is ” Finance “, with a total of 969 cases and peaks of relevance during 2023, representing 44% of the total number of phenomena. Our contribution to the report, titled “The Importance of Identifying the Organization’s Most At-Risk Information,” tries to educate businesses to avoid these threats mentioned in the report by changing their approach. It is imperative for businesses to understand which data are most at risk and to implement robust protection strategies accordingly.
